Private Clinical Psychologist in London
FOR ADULTS IN LONDON & ONLINE
Psychological therapy helping professionals move beyond anxiety, burnout, trauma and depression
Hi, I’m Dr Joel Sheridan
As a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience, I provide evidence-based psychological therapy for adults in person and online.
Many of the people I work with appear capable and composed on the outside while carrying far more internally than they show. If that resonates, you’re in the right place.
My approach is warm, thoughtful and practical, helping you understand what is keeping difficulties going and make meaningful, lasting changes in how you feel and live.
Who I Work With
people navigating emotional difficulties, pressure and change
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, overthinking, low mood, burnout, trauma and other emotional difficulties.
Many of my clients are professionals with demanding lives who are used to coping, solving problems and getting on with things. They come to therapy for many different reasons — from anxiety, burnout and low mood to relationship difficulties, past experiences or significant changes in life.
Whatever brings you to therapy, we can work together to understand what is happening, identify what may be keeping you stuck and find a way forward.
I work with clients in London, across the UK and internationally, including people who have relocated to London from abroad.
How I Can Help
People seek therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing a recognised psychological difficulty, or simply know that something doesn't feel right and you would like help understanding it.
Anxiety & Overthinking
Generalised anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias and body-image anxiety.
OCD & Perfectionism
Obsessive-compulsive disorder, intrusive thoughts, compulsions, perfectionism and imposter syndrome.
Stress, Burnout & Sleep
Chronic stress, overwhelm, emotional exhaustion, burnout, insomnia and difficulty switching off.
Low Mood & Depression
Low mood, depression, loss of motivation and feeling disconnected or unlike yourself.
Trauma & Difficult Experiences
Post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and difficult or distressing experiences that continue to affect you.
Relationships & Life Changes
Relationship or family strain, major life transitions and periods of significant personal change.
You don't need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what is wrong before starting therapy. Part of our work can be understanding what you're experiencing, why it may be happening and what could help.

Therapy Rooted in Psychological Science
I provide private psychological therapy in London and online, drawing on evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, EMDR and Compassion-Focused Therapy. Rather than applying the same approach to everyone, I tailor therapy to your individual needs, experiences and goals. Together, we develop an understanding of what may be contributing to your difficulties, what is keeping them going and what could help things change.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
A practical, structured approach that helps you understand how patterns of thinking and behaviour can contribute to emotional difficulties, and develop more helpful ways of responding.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Helps you respond differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, while building greater psychological flexibility and moving towards what matters to you.
EMDR Therapy
An evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing or traumatic experiences so they have less impact on how you feel and respond in the present.
Compassion-Focused Therapy
Particularly helpful for self-criticism, shame and perfectionism, developing a more balanced and compassionate way of relating to yourself.
