“Dr Joel Sheridan has helped me with anxiety and work-related stress. He uses a mix of techniques that are very effective in addressing a range of issues, including anxiety and depression, and in supporting both professional and personal life. I’m very grateful for the support and would highly recommend him.”

What Brings People to Therapy?
People often come to therapy when they notice patterns such as:
Persistent anxiety, worry, or overthinking
Difficulty switching off or sleeping
Emotional fatigue or burnout
Self-pressure, perfectionism, or imposter feelings
Repeating relationship patterns
The impact of trauma or major change
Feeling disconnected, on edge, or simply not like yourself
Often, these patterns build slowly over time, making them easy to overlook at first.
What Therapy Helps You Achieve
Therapy at Therapy Cove is designed to help you:
Reduce anxiety, overthinking, and mental noise
Understand root patterns shaping your reactions
Ease overwhelm and emotional intensity
Develop more consistent emotional patterns
Strengthen self-awareness and confidence
Restore clarity, calm, and internal balance
Navigate transitions with more stability
Many clients describe therapy as containing, clarifying and quietly transformative.
How Therapy Works
My therapeutic approach blends psychological depth with warmth, clarity and evidence-based methods. Sessions last 50 minutes, either in person near Harley Street or securely online.
It’s okay if you’ve never had therapy before or don’t know what to expect. We can discuss this in the initial meeting.
The Three Step Process
1. Consultation
A free 15-minute introductory conversation via Microsoft Teams or phone to understand what you’re looking for and whether working together would be a good fit.
2. Assessment
Typically two sessions to explore your current difficulties, how they developed, and what maintains them. Together, we create a shared psychological formulation and agree a treatment plan.
3. Treatment
Weekly 50-minute sessions, online or in person. Many people notice meaningful shifts within the first few months. We regularly review progress and adapt the work as needed.
Therapeutic Approaches
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you build cognitive and behavioural insights and understand how thoughts, emotions and actions interact. It helps you to gently challenge unhelpful patterns, and develop more empowering ways of responding.
I offer CBT in London and online.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR helps you to reprocess distressing memories and reduce the emotional charge of past experiences. Through this you learn to integrate them more adaptively and restore a sense of safety and control.
I offer EMDR in London and online.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you to build psychological flexibility. ACT helps you regulate difficult emotions, unhook from unhelpful thoughts and move towards a more values-aligned life.
I offer ACT in London and online.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
CFT helps you to nurture a sense of inner calm and safety. CFT helps soften self-criticism, regulate threat-based emotions and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
I offer CFT in London and online.
